Fortify Movement & Health · Altona North, VIC
Clinician-led Pilates grounded in exercise science — built for rehabilitation, chronic conditions, and real functional progress.

Clinical Pilates is a specialist form of movement rehabilitation that uses Pilates principles — breath, control, alignment, and progressive loading — within a structured clinical framework. It is fundamentally different from studio or recreational Pilates classes.
At Fortify Movement & Health, Clinical Pilates is delivered exclusively by accredited exercise physiologists. This means every session is grounded in exercise science, informed by your individual assessment, and designed with a specific clinical goal in mind — whether that is managing chronic pain, improving neuromuscular control, supporting recovery from injury or surgery, or building capacity alongside a chronic condition.
Unlike general Pilates classes, Clinical Pilates at Fortify is not a drop-in group fitness activity. It is a clinician-led rehabilitation modality, prescribed individually and progressed according to your clinical presentation and functional goals.

Four characteristics define the clinical distinction — and why it matters for your rehabilitation outcomes.
Every program is designed specifically for your body, your history, and your goals — not a group choreography routine. Your accredited exercise physiologist conducts a full assessment before a single exercise is selected.
Sessions are delivered by accredited exercise physiologists with specialist training in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, chronic disease management, and movement science — not general fitness instructors.
Clinical Pilates at Fortify draws on current research in neuromuscular rehabilitation, motor control, and chronic condition management. Every exercise selection has a clinical rationale.
Where studio Pilates centres on fitness and conditioning, our clinical approach targets specific impairments — pain, weakness, motor control deficits, and functional limitations — within a structured rehabilitation framework.
Understanding the distinction helps you choose the right approach for your clinical needs.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-trained allied health professionals specialising in the prescription of exercise for chronic disease, injury, disability, and rehabilitation. At Fortify Movement & Health, our AEPs hold full accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
This clinical credential is what distinguishes our Clinical Pilates offering from general studio Pilates. Your exercise physiologist understands the underlying pathology, movement compensations, and rehabilitation goals — and uses Pilates as a precision tool within that clinical picture.
